Melissa Hurwitz, D.P.M.

Dr. Melissa Hurwitz, originally from Syracuse, NY, is a Board Certified Foot and Ankle Surgeon. Coming from the snowiest place in the country, Dr. Hurwitz is excited to welcome the warm weather and to be serving the community of Fulshear, Texas. She completed her doctorate degree at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and her residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. After receiving extensive training from renowned surgeons at Mount Sinai, she then went on to complete her fellowship training in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery at a private practice in Naples, Florida.  In Naples, she treated hundreds of patients at several community hospitals and surgery centers where she honed her surgical training skills with additional complex surgical cases and minimally invasive surgical techniques. She is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and is board qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery by American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Throughout her three year residency training, Dr. Hurwitz received extensive training in managing all aspects of foot and ankle pathologies including; sports medicine, trauma, reconstructive and elective surgeries, limb salvage, dermatological diseases and pediatric foot pain. She holds additional certifications in comprehensive and advanced internal fixation, as well as ankle arthroscopy.  During her fellowship, she gained experience in managing complicated patients who were often looking for a second or third opinion.  These experiences allowed her to develop more creative ways to treat difficult conditions both conservatively, and if necessary, surgically.

Dr. Hurwitz enjoys giving back to those in need through volunteering her time.   She has taken a major role in a recent public health initiative in Bangkok, Thailand providing limb salvage surgeries to underprivileged patients and lecturing on foot care education to various health care professionals.  She was recently married here in Houston, Texas, where her and her husband Jared, also a native New Yorker intend to stay.  They particularly enjoy the diversity of food, art and culture.  Dr. Hurwitz loves animals, enjoys staying active, and traveling with her husband in her spare time.

Kunal Amin, D.P.M.

Dr. Amin loves to teach and guide podiatry residents and students, and has been doing so for the past decade. Dr. Amin will be living in the Fulshear area and is eager to become part of the community and incorporate his own unique expertise into our practice.

Dr. Amin enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, reading, and volunteering. He has gone on multiple international podiatric medical mission trips to serve the underprivileged and wishes to continue pursuing that passion throughout his life. When he is not working, he spends quality time with his wife and toddler at home.
